Pond Cottage is situated in a very quiet and peaceful rural location in the grounds of an ancient farm, making it a perfect countryside retreat.

The detached cottage is bursting with character and has been sympathetically restored to a very high standard using local materials and now offers very comfortable and cosy holiday accommodation.

The setting is private right next to a large picturesque pond. The cottage has it's own south facing enclosed garden with lovely rural views.

A Cosy Cottage Between Exmoor & Dartmoor

The ground floor of the cottage is semi open-plan, featuring a fully equipped farmhouse kitchen and a light and spacious but cosy living room with slate floors and a cosy wood burning stove.

The oak staircase leads to a dedicated work-space and 2 double large bedrooms both with en-suite shower & WC.

The cottage features exposed beams throughout and roof lights create a light and airy space. The majority of the furnishings are antique which add to the character and style of the property.

Guests have full access to a secluded outdoor un-heated pool and are welcome to explore and take a walk in our 10 acre established Arboretum of specimen and unusual trees, plus our newly established 350 tree Sequoia plantation.

Our Cottage

Pond Cottage is in the grounds of our 150 acre, 500 year old, stone built traditional farm. We keep sheep and a lot of free ranging poultry and our guests are welcome to walk all areas of the farm and use the pool.

Our Location

Our farm lies in a very quiet part of mid Devon, with very little light pollution. Our nearest village is Witheridge, 2.2 miles away where you will find 2 shops and a pub with good food. In the opposite direction is Rackenford, 3 miles away with 1 shop and a very 'old' gastro pub.

Beautiful remote cottage on a lovely farm which was nice to walk around. The cottage was very cosy with everything we needed. We enjoyed watching the ducks and geese from the cottage. Renate was very helpful and friendly, we look forward to returning.

Wonderful Christmas break at this lovely little cottage. The log fire was toasty and welcoming and the cottage was very comfy overall. Renate put out a Christmas tree and lights which made it look great, and was very responsive to a couple of minor queries. Be aware that the TV signal is poor at the moment following a storm, but there are loads of DVDs to watch. A great place to stay for two couples as each room has its own en-suite. Relaxing and peaceful.

A wonderful few days with Renate and John making us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and our girls were right at home exploring the fruit garden, directing the geese and ducks in and out of the pond and making good use of the beautiful swimming pool. When the sun was shining and we were sat by the pool I felt like we could have been in the South of France!
